The whole process of steelmaking doesn’t need any external energy consumption; it relies on the physical heat of liquid iron itself, as well as chemical reaction producing heat of the liquid iron in the converter to complete the steelmaking process. According to the refractory material different, the converter is divided into acid converter and alkaline converter. According to the blowing gas into the furnace position, the converter is divided into the top blowing converter, bottom blowing converter and side blowing converter. According to the air, the converter is divided air converter and oxygen converter. Because of the high production speed, high yield, low cost and low investment, the alkaline Oxygen Top-blown converter and Top-Bottom Blowing converter are the most common used steelmaking equipment. The converter is mainly used for the production of carbon steel, alloy steel and copper and nickel smelting.
